Cosmetic Tattooing: Fresh vs Healed
Why is it so important to ONLY look at healed work?
It’s common to find photos of freshly tattooed eyebrows, lips and eyeliner on social media. You may be wowed by the results but in reality, this is not what the final outcome will look like! Fresh work can be bold, dark and defined but as the colour heals the top layer of skin exfoliates/peels away the true colour is then seen. Once fully healed, which takes between 4-8 weeks (depending on age) the tattoo lightens, softens and looks more natural.
An inexperienced technician's work can look fabulous immediately after but once healed can be patchy or non-existent, hence why it’s so important to look at healed work only and the main reason why I only post photos of healed eyebrows, lip blush and eyeliner on my social media.
Cosmetic Tattooing is intended to look soft and natural, although a bolder look can be achieved at the client's request. The Tattoo gradually fades over time but you can be left with a residue of colour in the skin indefinitely. I recommend a colour boost every 18-24 months to keep the tattoo looking fresh. Each individual will retain colour differently depending on their body, skin and lifestyle.
